Ottoman Banknote, 5 Kuruş III
Early issue of an Ottoman Empire 5 kuruş banknote, dated 1327/1909, the first year of the reign of Sultan Mehmed V Reşad. It bears the imperial tughra and arabesque decoration typical of Ottoman banknote production in the years just before the Balkan Wars. It is among the earliest issues of the new banknote series introduced after the Young Turk Revolution (1908).
