Holy Trinity I

A devotional icon of the Holy Trinity, painted on a wooden panel using the traditional egg tempera technique. The iconographic subject depicts God the Father and Jesus Christ enthroned in glory, with the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove between them, according to the Western-influenced type known as the “Mercy” (Eleos). In the lower register, heavenly spirits and angels are shown amid clouds.
The surface of the icon shows extensive wear and losses of paint layers, typical of an older household icon preserved under particularly difficult conditions until the time of the expulsion.
It comes from the home of the Paresoglou family in Alaya.
Donated to the collection of the Alaya Association by Panagiotis Paresoglou, it is exhibited at the ALAYA Cultural Centre.
