Groom’s Cufflinks

A pair of cufflinks by the English company Stratton, crafted in gold with blue enamel and set with semi-precious stones at the centre. Purchased in Smyrna in 1918 for the wedding of Petros Karakourakoglou and Gesthimani Sakaloglou, they constitute a valuable personal family heirloom.
The elegant geometric decoration and the deep tone of the enamel reflect the aesthetic preferences of the period, as well as the connection of the Greeks of Asia Minor with fine European luxury goods.

Kindly made available for photography by the family of Stathis Nouveloglou.
