Dressmaking and Tailoring Diploma

A certificate of studies in dressmaking and tailoring awarded to Metaxia Panagara, of refugee origin from Alaya and born on Lesvos. After the expulsion, many people from Alaya found temporary refuge on the islands of the North Aegean before settling in Nea Ionia, where a developed textile and garment industry offered opportunities for professional rehabilitation.
Within this context, many young refugee women attended sewing workshops to secure economic independence. Metaxia Panagara continued on this path, building a successful business activity for decades with the infant-goods workshop “Ninaki.”
