Mandolin

A plucked string instrument with a pear-shaped body and four double courses of strings. It was widely used in Greek urban and popular music, as well as in musical ensembles of Asia Minor and the islands. A characteristic example of folk instrument-making of its period, it belonged to the Alayan Giorgos Michailidis, who managed to bring it to his new homeland after the displacement.
