A group of people from Alaya photographed during Carnival. At the centre is Katerina Bamioglou–Kafetzoglou, together with her brother-in-law Vasilis Kafetzoglou. In Nea Ionia, the people of Alaya kept alive the Carnival custom of masquerade, wearing traditional garments—often humorously altered—with a playful, satirical spirit.
Donated to the collection of the Alaya Association by Sofia Tsompanaki, from the personal archive of her husband Kostas Tsompanakis, President of the Association, it is exhibited at the ALAYA Cultural Centre.
